I know that Brian got a Wii after camping out overnight. I know that Chris and Nomad were planning on showing up at their local Target at midnight. A co-worker of mine says he’s sore today from playing Wii Sports (bowling and tennis) with his wife for 4 hours yesterday. (He’s going to bring it into work tomorrow, and we’re hooking it up to the projector.) I’m interested in your reviews.

It was worth standing in line for.
I was in line since 9pm Saturday, I got about an hour of sleep that night, and I agree with nomad, 100%. I spent a couple hours yesterday getting tastes of all the games I bought (Zelda, Tony Hawk, Monkey Ball, and Wii Sports), and I loved every one. I had some friends over yesterday and we had a ton of fun playing Tennis and Monkey Ball.
At this point I’m getting deeper into Zelda, and I love every moment. The story is great, the controls are incredible, and the graphics are great (on my standard definition TV). For the first time, Zelda actually looks beautiful, not all polygonal.
I don’t want to say this, but I can’t wait to finish Zelda so I can start playing Tony Hawk. The taste I got of it was great, but it was really difficult to get used to steering by tilting the controller. The Controls are strange, because you only have 2 buttons, so they had to combine some of the actions from the older games. I’m sure I’ll get used to it eventually.
Monkey Ball is great. It’s so incredibly intuitive to control the tilt of the world just by tilting the controller. I’ve only played through the first world (10 levels) so far, and it was pretty easy. I’ve heard after the 3rd or 4th world, it starts getting very difficult.
Wii sports is tons of fun. Fun to play alone, but much more fun to play in groups. I kinda wish I wanted to spend money on 2 more controllers (and 3 firends) so I could play 4 player tennis, but I’ll probably hold off on that.
Anyway, overall a great purchase so far. I can’t wait to waste all my free time playing it.
grrr I was so close to getting one this weekend like 3 times .. fucking technologically informed jackasses of Nor Cal.
ahh well I guess I can wait for a couple weeks to get one. when I do I’ll let you know how excite truck, trauma center and red steel are.
Nomad and I waited in line from 2am, got only an hour of sleep, I was very cold (stupid summer sleeping bag), but it was all worth it.
We had a wii party at a friends house yesterday where half the time was spent making Miis for everyone there, a couple people said that it was more fun than actually playing the games. Four player tennis is a blast, but Matt’s wife was cracked on the back of the head by another player’s remote, as he was going for the ball, so watch out.
Zelda is nice, Nomad says he’s a bit disappointed because it reminds him of Ocarina of Time, I haven’t played that game much, so this all feels fresh to me.
I haven’t played Monkey Ball all that much, but some of the mini-games seemed frustrating, so I’ll try more tonight. When I left for work this morning, Mari was playing Monkey Ball, so that should say a lot.
“A co-worker of mine says he’s sore today from playing Wii Sports…with his wife for 4 hours yesterday.” Is that what they call it these days? I guess at 4 hours he had to call his Dr., huh?
